Jacksonville State women snagged a 43-41 home win over Central Arkansas Thursday night at Pete Mathews Coliseum. Shawnta Shaw led JSU with 13 points, five rebounds and three assists.

The 44th Annual Calhoun County Area Chamber & Visitors Center meeting at Oxford Civic Center brought community and business leaders Wednesday for a luncheon and some prestigious awards. 

Alexandria boys and girls took down Lincoln Tuesday on the road in Class 5A, Area 12 action. Alexandria boys dropped Lincoln 73-48 for a 4-0 Area record while the girls topped Lincoln 51-40 to improve their Area record to 2-2.

Oxford boys defeated Jacksonville 43-40 to win the Calhoun County tournament at JSU's Pete Mathews Coliseum. Oxford's Jayden Lewis took home the Most Valuable Player award.

Oxford defeated Anniston in the finals 56-38 to win the Calhoun County Basketball Tournament at Pete Mathews Coliseum. Oxford's Xaionna Whitfield was named tournament Most Valuable Player.

The finals are set for Friday night's Calhoun County Championship. By virtues of their Thursday night victories Oxford will play Anniston in the girls finals at 6 p.m. followed by Jacksonville and Oxford boys at 8 p.m. at Pete Mathews Coliseum at JSU.

Pete Mathews Coliseum was action packed Wednesday night with four games with the winner of each going to the semifinals. The four semifinal games start Thursday at 3 p.m.

The Calhoun County basketball tournament continues to churn on at Pete Mathews Coliseum. Four games were played Tuesday with four more slated for Wednesday starting at 3 p.m.

Pete Mathews Coliseum was hopping with action Monday with 8 games played in the Calhoun County Basketball Tournament. The tournament continues Tuesday with 4 games beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Jacksonville rode the hot hand of Anniston native Kevion Nolan to top Jax State 68-62 on Saturday at Pete Mathews Coliseum. Nolan lead all scorers with 23 points and the Sacred Heart graduate had several friends and family members in the crowd cheering him on.

Jax State picked up a much needed conference win Thursday night beating North Florida 72-63. The Gamecocks return to action Saturday at 4.pm. when they take on Jacksonville at Pete Mathews Coliseum.

JSU led ASUN foe Bellarmine well into the second half but couldn't hold them off dropping the game 75-62. JSU will hosts North Florida Thursday at Pete Mathews Coliseum at 6 p.m.

JSU beat Queens Saturday night at Pete Mathews Coliseum 59-39. JSU (9-5, 2-1 ASUN) will travel to Austin Peay (7-6, 2-1) on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
